As it came to pass, this was an important piece of work in the renku world. The first of its kind, there were more to follow, though a dearth of good writing exists now.

I burned some bridges since then, too embarrassed to return. The death of my good friend John set me to grieving for a year or more after. The text of the composition phase still startles; I've just read it again! John's voice is more clear than ever. Without his teachings where would I be? His guidance allowed me to move forward, eventually captaining a longer, new renku, in a format called Tripvarsha, under the auspice of its creator, Norman Darlington.

Another breakthrough invention combined with the latter. It just doesn't get any better; the excitement, I mean. I hope soon to re-post "Bristlecone" here, an 18 tone *new* renku.
