Winter Carnival
along every terrace
snow and weeds
the winter sparrows
have all gone silent --
how pale your eyes
empty stalks
gathered close to the wall
this errant heart
just a cold wind

I'm not surprised all the sparrows have gone silent. It's a beautiful but bone-chilling place to be.

Love the jump between the two images in the "snow/weeds : eyes" verse. They start far apart, yet, with repeated reading, draw closer and closer. Filmic!
